King Power MahaNakhon Tower, with the Skywalk at the top
Located in the Silom district, the King Power Mahanakhon Tower (Thailand’s second-tallest building) features a 314-meter-high (1,030 feet) observation deck and rooftop bar on the 78th floor, offering a 360-degree view of Bangkok. It’s accessed through an elevator playing a Bangkok-themed video on its four walls, leading to the 74th floor’s spacious indoor observation hall, with floor-to-ceiling windows and displays pointing out the city’s main landmarks.
Walking on the Skywalk
Up the stairs is another elevator, taking you to the very top, now an outdoor observation deck, with the city’s highest bar serving a selection of soft drinks and cocktails. That’s where you find a terrifying glass floor (the “SkyWalk”) jutting out over the edge of the building, which not everyone is brave enough to step onto. Those you wish to experience walking above the city, must first slip protective (disposable) boots, although many end up dropping to their knees or lying on the glass in horror or for a photo.
Despite the terrifying experience of the SkyWalk, this is a family-friendly attraction and one that no visitor to Bangkok will want to miss.
